Biography

Mike is a highly experienced estate-planning and fiduciary litigation attorney with a reputation for excellence. He helps families navigate complex estate and trust matters, offering both proactive estate planning and expert legal representation in contentious situations. With significant experience in fiduciary litigation, Mike represents clients in will contests, trust disputes, elder guardianships, and claims of undue influence or elder exploitation.

In addition to his estate-planning expertise, Mike also serves as outside general counsel for small businesses, drawing on his background in law enforcement and white-collar criminal defense. He has been recognized as a "Super Lawyer" by North Carolina Super Lawyers and holds a Martindale-Hubbell AV-Preeminent® rating, the highest peer-reviewed accolade for legal excellence.

Mike is an active leader in the legal community, having served as co-chair of the NC Bar Association’s Fiduciary Litigation Committee and authoring a chapter on Guardianships for the North Carolina Fiduciary Litigation Manual. He is admitted to practice in both North Carolina and Illinois, with experience in both state and federal courts, including the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
